Farm Worker Open Day in Pniel

This year the focus of the Open Day was on linking farm workers and students to NPOs and government departments running rural programmes and providing educational opportunities. Farm workers who had attended: the Civil Rights Education Programme, the Health Committee and First Aid training were presented with certificates.
Numerous organisations and departments had set up stalls including:
  • LoveLife
  • REAP
  • Boland College
  • The Department of Health
  • The Department of Social Services
  • The South African Air Force
  • The CCMA
  • The Department of Labour
  • The Stellenbosch Legal Aid Clinic
  • Pniel Arts and Crafts
Die Grootmossies - a youth group of Riel dancers, together with the Stellenzicht Band and a solo sax player provided entertainment. While certificates were presented in the hall LoveLife and the Fire Services organised activities for the youth outside the hall.
The event which was organised by Ursula Smith and Boyce Williams with the support of Salwah Carelse and staff of the CWDM went off smoothly and the Millenuim Hall in Pniel was filled with more than 500 people.
